COACH’S QUOTE
“I thought out senior group played well,” said Head Coach Steve Wiedler. “I was happy with our senior class. Everyone else needs to bring more.”

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Boston College opened the scoring shorthanded 9:58 into the first period. Andre Gasseau forced a turnover in the neutral zone and Teddy Stiga skated in alone on a breakaway. He slid a shot through Alex Mangbo for his 11th goal of the year.
  • Gasseau doubled the Eagles advantage with 5:36 to play in the opening frame. Ryan Leonard won a battle behind the UVM net and blindly centered the puck into the slot. Gasseau one-timed it home just under the bar from the point for his 12th of the season.
  • Leonard (2nd, 4:37) and Gasseau (2nd, 14:40) added tallies in the second period to give the Eagles a four-goal lead. For Leonard it was his nation-leading 27th goal of the year.
  • Timofei Spitserov scored his 11th goal of the season on the power play with 2:12 to play. Colin Kessler cut to the net and Jacob Fowler made an initial stop, but Spitserov tapped home the rebound. Massimo Lombardi earned the secondary assist on the play.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • With tonight’s 4-1 decision, Community Bank N.A. will donate $75 to Special Olympics Vermont. Community Bank, N.A. donates $75 per goal to Special Olympics Vermont for every goal the men’s and women’s team scores this season.
  • Colin Kessler led all Catamounts with five shots on goal tonight.
  • Timofei Spitserov is now tied for the team lead with 11 goals.

UP NEXT
Next weekend the Catamounts will make their final road trip of the regular season campaign as they trek to Orono for a two-game set with No. 4 Maine at Alfond Arena. The teams will faceoff at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 28 and Saturday, March 1. It will be the Catamounts first visit to Alfond since knocking off the Black Bears in the 2023 Hockey East Opening Round, with a 4-2 win featuring three third period goals.

Both contests will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and as always it will also be broadcast live on WVMT (96.3 FM/620 AM) with the voice of the Catamounts Adam Lafleur in the Handy Toyota Broadcast Booth.
