BURLINGTON, Vt. – No. 2 Boston College completed its weekend sweep of Vermont after skating to a 4-1 victory over the Catamounts on Saturday evening at Gutterson Fieldhouse. Andre Gasseau led all scorers with three points on two goals and one assist. Ryan Leonard and Teddy Stiga both finished with one goal and one assist, while Gabe Perreault tallied two assists. Jacob Fowler made 32 saves between the pipes.

BC improves to 24-6-1 overall and 16-4-1 in Hockey East, while Vermont drops to 11-16-3 overall and 6-12-2 in league play.

Stiga opened the scoring for the Eagles with a short-handed goal through the opening period. Stiga and Gasseau put pressure on the Catamounts in the neutral zone, and Gasseau was able to poke the puck forward to Stiga who went in towards goal and slotted home his shot to put BC in front 1-0.

Boston College doubled its lead later in the period when Leonard passed the puck from behind the UVM goal into the slot where Gasseau was waiting for the first-time slap shot into the top right corner of the net.

The Eagles added two more in the second period to push the lead to four going into the final 20 minutes. Shortly into the middle frame, Perreault found Leonard skating towards goal and Leonard went back-hand around the goaltender for the first goal of the period.

Later in the second, Gasseau scored his second goal of the night when Stiga layed it off perfectly for the quick shot from just behind the right faceoff circle to put the Eagles ahead by four.

The Catamounts got on the scoreboard late in the third with a power play goal from Timofei Spitserov.
