Our preseason watchlist for Vermont high school field hockey has been published. Now it’s time for you — the reader — to cast your vote for the Burlington Free Press’ field hockey preseason player of the year.
We took all the names on our statewide watchlist and added them to the poll below. Voting is open now and the ballot will close at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28 — on the eve of the official start date for the 2025 regular season. Tournament play begins the week of Oct. 20.

How do I cast my vote?
All voting is through the ballot at burlingtonfreepress.com. We will not accept votes through email or through social media.
Voting began on Friday, Aug. 22, and continues through 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28.
What are the voting rules?
There is no limit on the number of times you can vote. So vote for your favorite athletes as many times as you’d like!
How do we learn who wins?
The winner will be announced at burlingtonfreepress.com on Friday, Aug. 29.
