Drake Maye’s sophomore season has led to a lot of praise from those around the NFL. And after his Week 6 performance, Patriots Hall of Famer Ty Law saw a little bit of his former quarterback in Maye.

“You just see how he’s managing the game. … He’s finding ways to get everybody involved. You know what I mean? That’s the thing that I’m most impressed about,“ Law said Tuesday on WEEI. ”Not only his patience and how he’s handling himself in situations, he’s spreading the ball around again. It brings us back to Tom Brady. As far as not having that premier wide receiver. He’s finding ways to win. So whoever’s open, (Maye’s) going to get you the ball. He’s making the right decisions, the right plays and that’s what you need as a quarterback. He’s the future.”

Maye’s chemistry with Stefon Diggs has been building week after week, and the two had a big game in Week 5 against the Buffalo Bills in which Diggs rushed for 146 yards on 10 catches. That connection didn’t carry into Week 6, but Maye still found ways to win the game by getting the ball to Kayshon Boutte and Pop Douglas.

Brady certainly had his fair share of elite names to get the ball to over the course of his 20-year career in New England. Names like Randy Moss, Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski and Wes Welker were consistently targeted. But the seven-time Super Bowl champion constantly found ways to get others involved en route to a two-decade run of dominance.

Maye’s string of strong performances have helped the Patriots to a 4-2 record and talk of being in the MVP conversation has started. The 23-year-old brushed off any sort of buzz around that, but he can continue to put his name in the discussion in Week 7 when the Patriots take on the Titans in Tennessee.
