A FUN-FILLED evening at Stoke Prior Sports and Country Club raised £507 for a charity that supports grassroots sport.
The Great Charity Race Night, held in aid of the Harry Bennett Foundation (HB9), was attended by around 70 guests.
The event featured nine thrilling races shown on the big screen.
The atmosphere was electric as the crowd placed their bets and cheered on their chosen horses, greyhounds and even pigs in a bid to get them over the finish line first.
A lively raffle added to the entertainment, helping to boost the final total further. The £507 generated means the club has so far raised almost £2,500 this year for the cause.
Founded in 2020, the Harry Bennett Foundation was established in memory of Harry Bennett, who tragically passed away aged just 16 from sepsis.
The charity honours Harry’s love of sport and his iconic number 9 jersey, providing funding and support to help young people and teams access sporting opportunities, training and equipment they might otherwise miss out on.
Stoke Prior Sports and Country Club manager Mark Goddard said: “It was another fantastic fundraising event, full of laughter and generosity.
“The continued support from our local community is incredible, and I’d like to thank the ten local businesses who sponsored the evening, along with everyone who kindly donated raffle prizes.
“We’re delighted to have raised more funds for such a worthwhile local cause.”
The club’s fundraising for HB9 continues next month with its hugely popular annual fireworks display – Let It Glow – on Saturday, November 8.
The evening will feature spectacular fireworks synchronised to a magical Disney soundtrack with 30p from every ticket and every pint sold at the outside bar donated to HB9.
