Eagles Travel to Vermont for Two-Game Weekend Series

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – No. 18/17 Boston College travels to Vermont this weekend for two road league contests, beginning Friday night at Gutterson Fieldhouse. Both games this weekend are scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN+ as well as on WEEI 850 AM.
 
SETTING THE SCENE
• The Eagles sit at 2-4-1 overall and 0-2-0 in Hockey East
• The Catamounts are 3-3-0 overall and 1-1-0 in league play
• BC is now 18th in the USCHO.com poll and 17th in the USA Hockey poll
 
HOCKEY EAST OPENERS
• BC dropped its first two Hockey East games to Northeastern this past weekend, 4-1 and 3-0
• Teddy Stiga scored on the power play in Thursday’s game
• James Hagens pushed his point streak to six games with an assist
• Oskar Jellvik picked up his first point of the year with the primary assist on the goal
• Jan Korec made 19 saves in Thursday’s game
• Louka Cloutier made 19 saves in Friday’s contest
• Boston College outshot Northeastern 73-55 over the two games
 
THE EAGLES
• James Hagens leads the Eagles in goals (3), assists (4), and points (7)
• Dean Letourneau and Jake Sondreal each have five points on two goals and three assists
• Luka Radivojevic has a team-high 10 blocks while Nolan Joyce has nine
• Cloutier has played five games and has a .883 save percentage and a 2.61 goals against average
 
A LOOK AT VERMONT
• The Catamounts are coming off a split weekend against New Hampshire to open their Hockey East slate; a 4-2 defeat on Friday before rebounding with a 2-1 victory on Saturday
• Colin Kessler leads the team in points (5) and assists (5)
• 10 different skates have scored a goal
• Aiden Wright has started all six games between the pipes, making 200 saves with a 2.22 goals against average and a .939 save percentage
 
SERIES HISTORY
• The Eagles are 54-18-8 all-time against the Catamounts
• BC has won the last four meetings, including the two last season at Gutterson Fieldhouse
• Andre Gasseau was named the Hockey East Player of the Week following that series after registering six points on three goals and three assists over the two games
 
NHL NOTES
• Cutter Gauthier (Anaheim) scored his first career hat trick on Tuesday evening to lead the Ducks to a 7-3 victory over Florida
• Nikita Nesterenko (Anaheim) scored his first goal of the season on Tuesday
• Chris Kreider (Anaheim) has scored a goal in each of his last three games
 
UP NEXT
• BC and UMass square off for a home-and-home series next weekend. The series starts Friday at Kelley Rink before Saturday’s tilt at the Mullins Center. Both games will be broadcasted live on ESPN+ as well as on WEEI 850 AM. Friday’s game will also be available to watch on NESN.
