ST. ALBANS — Messenger sports editor Ruthie Laroche was named Lake Division Media Person of the Year by the Vermont Soccer Coaches Association.

The annual awards recognize the division’s top players and contributors to the sport.

Laroche has been sports editor for the Messenger for the last six years, contributing countless hours to the coverage of Franklin County high school sports. All year long, you’ll find her on the sidelines of the soccer field and more, interviewing student athletes and capturing unforgettable moments on camera.

By highlighting Athletes of the Week, local alumni and youth sports programs, she ensures every local athlete feels seen and heard by their community.

“I want to thank the Vermont Soccer Coaches Association for this recognition,” Laroche said. “It means a lot to know the efforts of our Messenger Sports team have had this kind of an impact on the athletic community.”
