Our preseason watchlist for Vermont high school girls basketball is in the works. But before that publication, it’s now time for you — the reader — to cast your vote for the Burlington Free Press’ girls basketball preseason player of the year powered by Delta Dental.
After reaching out for confirmation from coaches and athletic directors around the state, we put together a list of Vermont’s top returning girls basketball players based on recognition from last year’s BFP All-State teams and the coaches’ all-league and dream-dozen selections. Voting is open now and the ballot will close at 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11— on the eve of the official start date for the 2025-26 regular season.

How do I cast my vote?
All voting is through the ballot at burlingtonfreepress.com. We will not accept votes through email or through social media.
Voting began on Friday, Dec. 5, and continues through 9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11.
What are the voting rules?
There is no limit on the number of times you can vote. So vote for your favorite athletes as many times as you’d like!

How do we learn who wins?
The winner will be announced at burlingtonfreepress.com on Friday, Dec. 12.
