The New England Patriots had a tremendous 2025 season, going from four wins in 2024 to the Super Bowl in one year. Quarterback Drake Maye was an MVP candidate and head coach Mike Vrabel won Coach of the Year.

And while they exceeded everyone’s expectations, the Patriots will now have the pressure of becoming one of the AFC’s top teams. In order to make it back to the Super Bowl, they’ll need to continue to improve. One way to do that would be to acquire a star like Las Vegas Raiders pass rusher Maxx Crosby, who is expected to get traded this offseason. Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports labeled the Patriots as a potential landing spot for Crosby, and projects trading first and second-round picks this year, along with defensive tackle Christian Barmore would get the deal done.
“The Patriots caught lightning in a bottle with K’Lavon Chaisson this season, but he’s set to cash in when he hits free agency,” Sullivan writes. “Crosby is the type of talent who could elevate this front to another level ahead of what projects to be a far more difficult 2026 regular season.”
Adding Crosby to a defense that is already one of the best in the NFL could be what puts the Patriots over the top. However, adding a star on the other side of the ball should be a priority, as well.
