Several local high school athletes shined Saturday at the New England Track and Field Championships at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center.
Leading the charge was Billerica’s second-place girls 4×800 relay team. Kylie Donahue, Caitlyn Donahue, Maya Niles and Evelyn Wesling combined to finish in 9:19.45, the second-fastest time in school history.
Also shining on the girls side was Groton-Dunstable star Meghan McEleney. She finished sixth in the 1,000 in 2:57.70.
On the boys side, Pelham’s Osinachi Nwabueze soared to fourth in the long jump with an effort of 22 feet, 3.75 inches. Alvirne’s Joseph Marcotte placed 10th in the event (21-4).
Lowell’s 4×200 relay squad of Jordan Oge, Juanito DeLaCruz, Jermaine Sherwood and James Njonde sped to ninth place in a clocking of 1:31.94.
In the 4×800, Greater Lowell Tech’s team of Maurice King Jr., Jesus Andrades, Anthony Beaudoin and Matthew Guerin placed 10th in 8:05.54.
Boys hockey
Wilmington 4, Greenfield 3: Backed by a large and supportive crowd at the Breakaway Ice Center in Tewksbury, the Wildcats captured the Div. 4 round of 16 game.
The No. 4 Wildcats (13-8-1) ousted a tough No. 13 Greenfield (12-9-1) team. The Wildcats advance to face No. 5 Winthrop in a round of 8 battle.
Westwood 3, Billerica 1: The Indians had another strong season, but they won’t repeat as state champions.
No. 11 Billerica (10-10-2) was eliminated in a Div. 2 round of 16 game by No. 6 Westwood (19-2-1) at the Canton Ice House. Scoring Billerica’s lone goal was Shawn Tierney.
Scituate 3, G-D 2: Groton-Dunstable threw a major scare into seventh-seeded Scituate (13-7-2) during a Div. 3 round of 16 game at Hobomock Arena in Pembroke
The No. 23 Crusaders finish 11-10-0 after coming up just short.
Alvirne 3, Nashua 0: Alvirne/Milford received a goal and two-assist performance from Brandon Callahan in its latest NHIAA regular-season win.
Brandon Ganas and Luke Green also found the back of the net at Conway Arena.
BG 4, Exeter 2: Bishop Guertin received two goals from Cam Vaillancourt during a NHIAA Div. 1 win at Phillips Exeter Academy.
Dominic Trepanier compiled a goal and assist, Gavin Santos also scored, and Jack Stone dished out two assists.
Girls hockey
T/M 4, Woburn 1: Tewksbury/Methuen received goals from four different players to capture the Div. 1 round of 16 win at Methuen High.
Scoring for the No. 6 Red Rangers (20-0-2) were Ella Duffy, Sarah Marano, Sammy Ryan and Maeve Burns.

Girls basketball
Fenwick 58, Wilmington 27: The Wildcats ran into a buzzsaw in No. 1 Bishop Fenwick (17-5) during a Div. 4 round of 16 game.
For Fenwick, senior Captain Celia Neilson was tough to stop with 23 points, six rebounds, six assists and eight steals. No. 32 Wilmington ends with a 9-13 record.
On Friday, Wilmington edged Southeastern at home to advance, 52-46.
Billerica 50, Algonquin 42: The host Indians had just enough offense to defeat No. 23 Algonquin in a Div. 1 round of 32 battle.
No. 10 Billerica (17-4) advances to the round of 16. The Indians will play at Braintree on Tuesday (6:30 p.m.).
Pelham 62, Oyster River 26: The Pythons were firing on all cylinders on Senior Night and never let down in finishing the NHIAA regular season at 14-4.
Grace Riley led a balanced attack with 19 points. Jessie Phillips claimed 13 points and Sophia Guinazzo added 11 points. Freshman point Guard Harlow Barron led the bench scoring with seven points. Ava Milley starred defensively, while Tatum Dzierlatka and Jessie Phillips controlled the rebounding.
The Pythons will host a Div. 2 first-round playoff game on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Girls gymnastics
Masters shines: Lexie Masters of Wilmington/Bedford placed third in the all-around at the MIAA state championship behind only winner Gauri Sharma of Westboro and runner-up Kallie McCarthy of Central Catholic. Newton North won the team title.
Boys basketball
Tewksbury 64, Dover-Sherborn 38: The third-seeded Redmen had little difficulty advancing with the Div. 3 round of 32 victory in Tewksbury.
Tewksbury (16-5) received balanced scoring to oust No. 30 Dover-Sherborn. Gabe Keskinidis led the scoring parade with 15 points, while Grayson Ryder pocketed 14 points. Adding 11 points each were Jonny Sullivan, Aidan Richard and Nick Colameta.
Salem 76, Lowell Catholic 46: The Crusaders couldn’t capture a second state tournament victory, as second-seeded Salem (20-2) lived up to its reputation at home during the Div. 3 round of 32 game.
No. 34 Lowell Catholic completes a fine 12-10 season. LC knocked off Saugus in its tourney opener.
NM 67, Dighton-Rehoboth 55: The 38th-seeded North Middlesex Patriots pulled off an upset over No. 27 Dighton-Rehoboth in a Div. 3 prelim.
The Patriots advance to the round of 32 and will play at Lynn Classical on Sunday (4 p.m.).

Girls basketball: In a Div. 4 round of 32 game, No. 9 Tyngsboro (13-7) will host No. 24 Carver (8-12) at 4 p.m.
Boys hockey: In a Div. 2 round of 16 clash, No. 2 Tewksbury (19-1-1) will host No. 15 North Attleboro (14-6-1) at 4 p.m. at Breakaway Ice Center in Tewksbury. In a Div. 3 round of 16 game, No. 5 Shawsheen Tech (18-2-1) will entertain No. 21 Danvers (10-9-2) at 7:30 p.m. at Hallenborg Pavillion in Billerica.
in a Div. 4 round of 16 game, No. 2 Littleton/Bromfield (20-1-0) will host No. 18 Pentucket (8-12-1) at 4:30 p.m. at the Groton School.
Boys basketball: In a Div. 3 round of 32 game, No. 38 North Middlesex (12-9) will try to upset No. 6 Lynn Classical (17-3) at 4 p.m. on the road.

Boys hockey: In a Div. 3 round of 16 game, No. 6 Dracut/Tyngsboro (18-1-2) will host No. 11 Nashoba Regional (14-5-2) at 6 p.m. at the Tsongas Center in Lowell.
