Stefon Diggs has broken his silence after being released by the New England Patriots following just one season with the franchise. The veteran wide receiver shared a brief but emotional message with fans on social media after the news surfaced. Diggs’ exit comes only a year into a multi-year deal and amid growing attention around his personal life.

Stefon Diggs addressed the situation himself on Instagram after reports confirmed that the New England Patriots had decided to part ways with him. The 32-year-old wide receiver kept the message simple and heartfelt. He thanked the fans who supported him during his stint with the Patriots.

In Instagram Stories posts shared on March 4, Diggs wrote, “THANK YOU for a hell of a year.” He added that the bond with supporters would last, saying they are “family forever.” He wrapped up the note with a hopeful message, writing, “Until we meet again,” signing off with his jersey number, “8.”

Stefon Diggs arrived at the New England Patriots during the previous offseason. The team reportedly signed him to a three-year deal worth about $69 million. Even with that multi-year contract in place, the Patriots chose to release the veteran receiver after just one season. Before landing in New England, Diggs had already built a strong résumé around the league. He made a name for himself during productive runs with the Buffalo Bills and the Houston Texans.

When Diggs first joined the roster, Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel openly praised his skill set. In a March 2025 interview, Vrabel pointed to the receiver’s “play-strength” on the field. He said Diggs plays with real strength, runs sharp routes, and competes “good at the catch point.” Vrabel also noted that he had proven effective in red-zone situations (via E! News).

Stefon Diggs has also been making headlines off the field lately. The NFL star recently welcomed a baby boy with Cardi B. At the same time, the internet has been buzzing with chatter about a possible split between the two. Diggs is also dealing with a serious legal situation tied to an alleged incident involving his personal chef.
