For the second consecutive season, Hartford High School girls basketball’s Charlotte Jasmin has been named Vermont player of the year by Gatorade.

The senior has been selected for this year’s award, which recognizes outstanding athletic excellence, high academic achievement and exemplary character. Gatorade announced state winners on Friday, March 13.

Jasmin is the first girl to win this honor in back-to-back years since St. Johnsbury’s Sadie Stetson earned this award three consecutive years from 2017-2019.

A 5-foot-10 guard, Jasmin led the Hurricanes (22-1) to the Division II championship earlier in March including scoring a game-high 15 points in Hartford’s 37-20 win over Lamoille. Jasmin finished the season averaging 25.5 points, 10 rebounds, 6.1 steals and 4.7 assists.

The senior is ranked as the No. 44 prospect in New England’s Class of 2026 according to PrepGirlsHoops and she remains undecided on a collegiate destination.

During the playoffs, Jasmin became the fifth girl in Vermont girls basketball history to score 2,000 points and finished her career with 2,025 total points.

A member of the National Honor Society, Jasmin has volunteered locally with Hope Happens Here, an organization that helps destigmatize mental health issues in sports. She has also served as a member of her school’s Athletic Leadership Council.

“We tried to box-and-one Jasmin and then run a second defender at her on the catch and she still scored 35 points on us,” said Timmy MacDonnell, head coach of Woodstock High School. “Her size and shooting made her an incredibly challenging matchup. [Other schools] had unbelievable seasons as teams, but I think if you removed the best players from all the programs, Hartford would feel the impact far greater than others. 2,000 points is an impressive feat.”

Jasmin has maintained a 3.87 GPA in the classroom.

As part of Gatorade’s commitment to breaking down barriers in sport, every player of the year also receives a grant to donate to a social impact partner.
