With the full 2026 NFL schedule officially locked in, fans can finally map out the most anticipated matchups of the year. For the first time since 2016, when the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers squared off in a Super Bowl 50 rematch, the league is kicking things off with a premium championship replay in Week 1.

The defending champion Seattle Seahawks will welcome the New England Patriots to Lumen Field, just months after the Seattle defense put on an absolute masterclass. In that title game, the Seahawks completely suffocated the Patriots, keeping them scoreless for three straight quarters and dropping quarterback Drake Maye six times en route to a decisive 29-13 victory.

This high-stakes opener marks one of Seattle’s franchise-high six primetime games, an honor befitting the reigning kings of the league. The Seahawks, Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, and Green Bay Packers are all locked in a dead heat for the second-most night slots, trailing only the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams stand alone at the top with an NFL record-tying seven primetime appearances, matching the historic marks set by the 2023 Bills and the 2025 Chiefs.

Tom Brady Gillette Stadium Return: The GOAT Heads Back to Foxborough in Week 9

While the Patriots fall just slightly behind the pack with five evening slots of their own, their road back to the postseason looks significantly steeper this year. New England faces a brutal gauntlet, including high-profile road tests against Chicago and Kansas City under the bright lights.

However, the crown jewel of the New England Patriots schedule isn’t a night game at all. Instead, it’s a late-afternoon window in Week 9 that every football fan in America already has circled on their calendar. On Sunday, Nov. 8, the Patriots will host the Green Bay Packers at Gillette Stadium for a blockbuster matchup.

While the on-field battle between two historic franchises is enough to draw a massive audience, the real headline is up in the press box. New England Patriots legend and undisputed NFL GOAT Tom Brady is officially set to broadcast his first-ever game in Foxborough since making the transition to the media booth in 2024.

Brady, who engineered the greatest dynasty in modern sports history by winning six of his seven Super Bowl titles during a legendary two-decade run in New England from 2000 to 2019, will anchor FOX’s premier broadcast.

The network has designated the Packers-Patriots clash as its coveted “America’s Game of the Week,” locking it into the marquee 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff window. This means the network’s absolute A-team will be running the show: Brady will provide the color analysis alongside play-by-play powerhouse Kevin Burkhardt, while veteran reporter Erin Andrews holds down the sidelines.

This assignment adds a fascinating layer of psychological drama to the weekend. While Brady has made a few high-profile returns to Foxborough since hanging up his cleats, most notably for his emotional team Hall of Fame induction and the grand unveiling of his bronze statue in the plaza last summer, he has never stepped foot inside Gillette Stadium in a working media capacity.
