New England sports bar found in the heart of San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (WPRI) — A sports bar in the heart of San Francisco is taking Patriots fans back to New England.

Owned and managed by New England native Jonathan Breuer, Connecticut Yankee has been around for decades.

The rooms and walls are covered top-to-bottom in jerseys and memorabilia from the past.

“My license plate is hung up in the bathroom here. Like, this has been my home,” one patron said. “Just, it’s one of the best feelings to be able to walk in here. It’s fun here. We’re like family here.”

Breuer said he has always dreamed of opening a place like it to provide a second home for Boston sports fans across the country.

“In my senior yearbook was to own a Boston bar,” he said. “And it happened 20-something years later.”

The bar is hosting special fan events leading up to Sunday, and there will also be a viewing party for anyone looking to enjoy the game.
