Bravehearts 10, Vermont 8: Former Worcester Academy star Cam Papetti (4 for 5) delivered the lead run with his second double of the night in the seventh inning, and Casey Wensley was 3 for 5 with a triple and three RBIs as visiting Worcester (47-16) secured a split of a two-game series with the Lake Monsters (40-21) at Centennial Field.

The Bravehearts conclude their regular season Saturday, Aug. 9, at home against New Britain and open their best-of-three semifinal series Sunday as the top seed, against a team to be determined, also at Fitton Field.

American Legion

Northeast Regional

Waterford, Conn. 7, Cumberland, R.I. 5: Martin Light and Dylan Matis each drove in two runs as Waterford topped Cumberland in an elimination game at Fitton Field.

Waterford (2-1) faces Greece, N.Y., at 1 p.m. Saturday in a semifinal.

Isaiah Figueroa (2 RBIs) and Micah Cousineau each went 3 for 4 in the finale for Cumberland.

Greece, N.Y. 11, St. Johnsbury, Vt. 1: Nate Briza (first-inning grand slam) and Tyler Cannon each doubled and homered, and Derrick Allen hit a two-run shot as Greece (3-0) breezed in five innings in the winners’ bracket final.

Averill Parker doubled in a run in the fourth for St. Johnsbury, Shrewsbury’s opponent on Saturday.
