Metro Manila — The Marriott Worldwide Business Councils – Philippines’ (MWBC-PH) “The Charity Golf” has been honored at the 7th Philippine Sports Tourism Awards as the “Charity Event of the Year”. The Charity Golf, a project led by Manila Marriott Hotel at Newport World Resorts, is now on its 6th tournament year. “This award is a true testament to the power of our community and what we can achieve when we come together for a meaningful purpose, which makes kindness go in full swing,” says Dottie Wurgler, Chair of MWBC-PH. Over 600 celebrities, sports icons, passionate golf enthusiasts, Marriott Bonvoy members, and business council supporters supported the tourney during the first five tournaments, raising over PHP8 million which benefited thousands of children under the care of Save the Children Philippines.
Showbiz personalities Derrick Ramsey, Donny Pangilinan, Belle Mariano, and Marvin Agustin supported the first five tournaments of The Charity Golf. Sports icons Coach Tim Cone, LA Tenorio, Anthony Suntay, Vince Hizon, and Patricia Bermudez-Hizon also participated, making it the most celebrity-endorsed group-of-hotels charity golf tournament.
A total of 18 outstanding awardees from the government and private sectors were honored at the 7th Philippine Sports Tourism Awards. Award categories include the best destinations & venues, outstanding personalities, best events, and best organizations & industries.
Registration is now open for the tournament on 9 October 2026. The tournament will begin at 5:00 AM. It will be held at the Manila Marriott Hotel and the Villamor Airbase Golf Course.
