We have seen a lot of crazy endings to first and second halves in the NFL, but not sure if we have seen one like the final play of the first half of the Patriots vs. Bears game.
Pats beat first half buzzer
With three seconds left, New England had the ball at the Chicago 48 yard line with 3 seconds left on the first half clock. Everyone at Soldier Field was expecting a Hail Mary to the end zone with time for one more play. The Patriots drew up a screen pass for Rhamondre Stevenson who had a lot of work to do with the clock already expired.
The Bears didn’t drop back in a prevent, instead they brought pressure from the left side. The Patriots set up the screen on the right side and and Patriots running back got a couple of huge blocks down the field before zig zagging his way into the end zone to cut the Bears lead to 20-14.
This was a particularly important play considering on the previous Patriots possession Drake Maye was picked off in the end zone, and the Bears went down and scored a touchdown to flip the game on it’s head.
