GREENACRES, Fla. (CBS12) — Gulfstream Goodwill struck up some fun for a powerful purpose on Saturday, September 6, as it hosted its annual Celebrity Bowl at Greenacres Bowl. The event brought together sports legends, local leaders, and community members to support programs that empower people with disabilities.
The event wasn’t just about knocking down pins—it was about lifting up lives. Proceeds benefited Gulfstream Goodwill’s Career Academy and Capabilities program, which provided life and job skills training for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
“We focus on students with, intellectual disabilities and developmental disabilities,” said Dr. Christopher Glinton, principal of the Career Academy. “And we work on providing them with work, skills, and life skills, and to get them ready for employment.”

Joining Dr. Glinton in promoting the event was Keyna Cory, president of the Florida Sports Hall of Fame. She helped rally a star-studded lineup of athletes and public figures, including 13-year MLB veteran Louis A. and Golden Spikes winner Mike Loud, formerly of the Texas Rangers.
The Celebrity Bowl also helped fund Gulfstream Goodwill’s annual talent showcase, “Goodwill’s Got Talent,” scheduled for April 22 at Palm Beach State College’s Eissey Campus Theatre. Students and participants were set to perform everything from comedy to dance, with this weekend’s bowlers helping make it all possible.
Attendees enjoyed raffle prizes, a silent auction, and appearances from local icons like State Representative Ann Gerwig. Students and staff from the Career Academy also laced up their bowling shoes to compete.
