LSU Tigers’ Bold Recruiting Move Turns Heads as Olympic Champion Visits Quincy Wilson: ‘OG Pulled Up’

When Quincy Wilson struggled during his 4x400m relay leg at the 2024 Paris Olympics, veteran Vernon Norwood stepped in with calm assurance, promising, “I’m going to get you a gold medal.” Since then, Norwood has guided Wilson through his rapid rise, encouraging him to stay disciplined and focused. He has publicly praised Wilson’s record-breaking 400m runs, reinforcing a well-structured mentorship. Now, Norwood has stepped forward with an interesting proposal for the young sprinter. 

Wilson recently took to Instagram and shared a picture of himself along with Vernon Norwood and Bennie Brazell. And all three of them held out their hands to denote an ‘L’ for the Louisiana State University. In the caption, the youngest male US track Olympian wrote, “thank you Coach Bennie and [Vernon Norwood] for coming to talk to my family and I, about what LSU has to offer! #geauxtigers #notcommitted.” 

Now facing a pivotal career decision, Wilson is considering offers from Florida, Texas A&M, and Tennessee, but has opted against turning professional for now. He’s also touring and exploring his options at the University of Georgia and Texas Tech University. But he’s yet to come to a decision. Instead, he aims to refine his technique and build maturity before entering elite ranks. But while Quincy Wilson faces a bit of confusion prior to his collegiate career, Norwood seemed focused on making him a Tiger. He took to the comments section and wrote, “GEAUX TIGERS!
