England lead the series 1-0 and a win in this game will see them clinch the series. A win for NZ will see both teams share the trophy. The first T20I was washed out due to rain. England finished with 153 runs on the board in 20 overs. NZ didn’t get a chance to bat due to rain in Christchurch.
The visiting team registered a big 65-run win in the second game of the series. Asked to bat first, England put on a big total of 236/4 on the board. Phil Salt smashed a quick 85 off 56 balls.
Harry Brook hit 78 off 35 while Tom Banton remained unbeaten on 24 off 12 balls in the big total. NZ lost wickets at regular intervals and were never in contention to chase down the big target. They were bowled out for 171 in 18 overs. Adil Rashid took a four-fer while Luke Wood, Brydon Carse and Liam Dawson scalped two wickets each in the win.
After the third T20I in Auckland, the action will move to Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui for the first ODI of the three-match series on Sunday (October 26). The last two ODIs will be played in Hamilton and Wellington on October 29 and November 1, respectively.
