ESPN College Game Day’s Rece Davis talks Vanderbilt football

Vanderbilt football added an unexpected member to its bandwagon on Saturday, Oct. 25.

With ESPN’s “College GameDay” in tow from Nashville for the No. 12 Commodores matchup against No. 14 Missouri, former Alabama coach Nick Saban announced to a crowd that booed him to start the show that he was jumping on the Vanderbilt bandwagon.

The jeers quickly turned to cheers, and even the chanting of Saban’s name.

Last season, Saban said that Vanderbilt was the “only place that’s not hard to play in the SEC,” and last week admitted that he had never picked the Commodores to win a game during the “GameDay” picks section.

“Excuse me,” Saban said. “I don’t think so. You know, it’s just hard for me to recognize the fact that they have elevated their program the way they have after so many years in the SEC when they were an easy out.”

Following Vandy’s 31-24 win over LSU last weekend, the Commodores are 6-1, off to the best start in program history since 1950 and ranked No. 12 in the US LBM Coaches Poll this week.

Beyond that, Vanderbilt might have converted one of its biggest “haters” into a bandwagon fan today.
