West Virginia high school football regular season has concluded and the WVSSAC playoffs are upon us in the Mountain State.

Bridgeport has remained undefeated and firmly at No. 1 throughout the season, just ahead of No. 2 Martinsburg, which has really turned things around since starting the season at 0-2, having won eight straight games. Who else made the argument on the field last week to enter the latest set of West Virginia Top 25 rankings?

The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

Here is the latest West Virginia high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey as of Nov. 11.

1. Bridgeport Indians

The Bridgeport Indians (10-0) are coming off an undefeated 2024 season by dominating Herbert Hoover in the Class AAA state championship game. Bridgeport, coming off a 62-28 win over Fairmont, continues to sit firmly entrenched atop of the West Virginia rankings the last few weeks as the top team in the state.

It’s going to be hard to unseat the Indians as they have a favorable schedule the rest of the regular season ahead of them and could run the table at 14-0 for the second consecutive year. The Indians will take on PikeView in the opening round of the AAA state playoffs.

2. Martinsburg Bulldogs

The Martinsburg Bulldogs (8-2) is playing their best football of the season after dropping two straight to start the 2025 campaign. The Bulldogs have a rich history when it comes to winning state championships and after winning a second straight last year, tested their mettle against New Jersey’s Camden to start the year.

The Bulldogs wrapped up the regular season with their eighth straight victory, soundly defeating Hurricane, 68-14.

Martinsburg was off to their first 0-2 start since 2015 until they were able to get off the snide against Woodson. The Bulldogs open up their WVSSAC AAAA title defense against Parkersburg South (3-7) in the first round.

3. Morgantown Mohigans

Morgantown (9-1), which moves up a couple spots this week, played in what could season a defining game when took on No. 4 Martinsburg, 34-6 loss, a few weeks ago. Morgantown’s offense has been as well as any in the state behind the running of senior tailback Isaiah Thompson, who leads a unit that’s averaging 33.4 points per game.

The Mohigans bounced back from the Martinsburg loss when they defeated Parkersburg South, 45-10, and then took care of business on the road against Musselman in a 45-0 win. Morgantown takes on Buckhannon Upshur (2-8) to start this week’s postseason play.

4. Huntington Highlanders

Huntington (8-2) dropped their second game of the season to another out-of-state opponent when they fell against Tennessee’s Sevier County, 42-26. The Highlanders bounced back with a 28-14 victory over The Linsly School to close out the regular season.

The Highlanders made all the woes of losing a year ago in the regular season opener in a Week 2 matchup when they upset Martinsburg, 22-20, a team that they lost to last year by a point the Class AAAA state semifinals. Highlanders open up AAAA postseason play against Hedgesville this week.

5. Princeton Tigers

There’s not many offenses in the state of West Virginia clicking quite like the Princeton Tigers right now. The Tigers (9-0) are averaging an impressive 47.6 points per contest behind the play of senior quarterback Chance Barker.

Princeton had arguably its best outing of the season when they defeated No. 7 Independence, 42-30, a couple weeks ago. The Tigers finished the regular season with an unbeaten record after soundly defeating South Charleston, 55-19, and begin the postseason this week against Hampshire.
