MONTPELIER — Milton High School’s championship-winning varsity boys soccer team was recognized at the Vermont statehouse last month. 

The team, as well as coaches Jack Hubbard and Eric Rhoades and athletic director Marcel Choquette, met with Milton’s state representatives and Gov. Phil Scott. They received a tour of the statehouse from Lt. Gov. John Rodgers and were introduced on the house floor. 

Milton, seeded sixth, came from behind to beat top-seeded Mt. Abraham in the Division II state championship Oct. 31, 2025. They won the game in overtime, 1-0, at Burlington High School. 

The win was the team’s first championship since 2021.
