HOOKSET, N.H.—Dartmouth men’s lacrosse earned its first win of the season on Friday against rival Vermont. The Big Green took down the Catamounts 15-10.

The Big Green opening the scoring just 1:08 into the contest as Quinn Stankovits scored to make it a 1-0 game.

At the 11:36 mark, Tyler Juhlin made it a 2-0 game before Vermont got a goal back at the 10:40 mark.

Alex Jessey and Stankovits scored just over a minute apart to make it a 4-1 game at the 8:30 mark of the first quarter.

Vermont scored its second goal at the 7:46 mark but the Big Green answered with five straight goals to jump out to a 9-2 lead with 3:06 left in the opening quarter.

UVM made it 9-3 with just over a minute left in the frame and then scored the first goal of the second quarter.

Stu Gates made it a 10-4 game at the 11:58 mark but the Catamounts once again answered and the teams traded goals with Juhlin scoring with two seconds left in the half to give Dartmouth a 12-6 lead into the break.

Jessey scored the lone Dartmouth goal of the third quarter while Vermont scored a pair to make it 13-8 Big Green.

Each team scored twice in the fourth quarter as Stankovits and Thomas Power bookended the final frame.

Dartmouth held the advantage in both shot attempts and shots on goal. The Big Green tallied 40 shots with 22 being on goal while Vermont tallied 37 attempts and 15 shots on goal.

Max Becker made his second consecutive start and make five saves in his second collegiate game.

Stankovits led the way for the Big Green offensively as he had five goals and an assist. Power finished with two goals and two assists while Gates, Juhlin, and Jessey each had two goals and an assist for the Big Green.

Spencer Reagan went 15-12 on faceoffs and has won 65.2% of faceoffs through two games.

The game was played in Hookset, N.H. while the win is considered a road win for the Big Green.

Dartmouth hosts Merrimack on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 4 PM in its home opener. The game will be broadcasted on NESN+ and ESPN+.
