(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Fresh off their Olympic performance in Milan, Gold Medal winners Ellie Kam and Danny O’Shea from Team USA Figure Skating joined FOX21 Morning News on March 4 to reflect on their journey and show off their new hardware.

The pair helped Team USA secure the gold medal by performing their best pairs free skate to date. “We kind of both knew walking into the rink that morning,” said O’Shea. “Yeah, the vibes were good, you could feel the energy,” said Kam.

Since returning to Colorado Springs, the two said they have received endless love and support from the community. “Getting to see everyone who has been a part of the journey and getting to share it with them and all of our friends and family here in Colorado Springs–it’s been amazing to get home,” said O’Shea.

Kam said it’s been fun to show off the medal to friends and fans, and said that since she’s returned home, she no longer sleeps with it under her pillow. “When I was back at the [Olympic] Village, I did,” she said.

The two don’t have long to revel in their victory. World Championships take place in just a few weeks. “We’re back to the grind, getting ready for that, and can’t wait to go to Prague,” said O’Shea.

Kam said after Worlds, she and O’Shea will join the Stars on Ice Tour, which also includes Olympic women’s gold medalist Alysa Liu, ice dancing silver medalists Madison Chock and Evan Bates, and team gold medalists Ilia Malinin and Amber Glenn.

“It is our first tour, so I’m very excited,” said Kam. “That was one of the things I have always wanted to do in my skating career, to skate for Stars on Ice.”

The tour will make a stop in Loveland, Colorado, on May 12 at the Blue FCU Arena.
