The University of Vermont appears to have found Alisa Kresge’s successor.

Maureen Magarity is expected to be named the next head coach of the UVM women’s basketball team, according to MyNBC’s Jack Main, who broke the news on X, the social-media site formerly known as Twitter, on Monday, April 13.

On3’s Talia Goodman also corroborated Main’s reporting on X.

Vermont did not need to look far to identify Margarity as a candidate. Magarity previously worked in the Vermont athletic department as the director of major gifts. She is also married to Vermont men’s basketball head coach John Becker.

Before her expected arrival to Burlington, Magarity previously served as head coach at the University of New Hampshire and Holy Cross.

Magarity spent four seasons (2020-2024) at Holy Cross guiding the Crusaders to NCAA tournaments appearances in 2023 and 2024 and finished with three 20-win seasons. She compiled a 72-41 record at Holy Cross.

Prior to Holy Cross, Magarity served as New Hampshire’s head coach for 10 years where her 146 total wins rank second most in program history.
