BURLINGTON, Vt. – #2 Vermont (21-11, 13-3 AE) will host #3 Maine (19-13, 10-6 AE) in the semifinals of the 2025 Jersey Mike’s America East Playoffs on Tuesday (Mar. 11). Action from Patrick Gym will tip-off at 7 pm.
 
BROADCAST INFORMATION
The conference clash will broadcast live on ESPN+. Fans can listen to the game for free on the Vermont Sports Network, from Learfield on The Game, which will air on 97.1 FM in Burlington, 105.9 FM in Plattsburgh, and 960 AM around the rest of the region. The radio broadcast is also available via the Varsity Network App with Brian McLaughlin on the call.

VERMONT OUTLOOK

  • Vermont is coming off its 10th straight win, the 4th longest win streak in the country, defeating New Hampshire 64-57 at Patrick Gym this past Saturday.
  • The Catamounts defense held New Hampshire to less than 60 points which has happened for the 8th time this year, holding a 7-1 record when doing so.
  • Three different Catamounts earned double-digit scoring against UAlbany. TJ Hurley (18), Ileri Ayo-Faleye (14), and Nick Fiorillo contributed for Vermont.
  • Ileri Ayo-Faleye recorded his 4th career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds against New Hampshire. This was Ayo-Faleye’s 3rd game this season with 10+ rebounds.
  • Hurley leads UVM in scoring averaging 16.1 points per game. He has had 11 20+ point games this season. Hurley ranks second in the America East Conference in free throw percentage. On the year, Hurley has shot 88.7 percent from the line.
  • The Catamounts allow 64 points per game, ranking UVM as the 15th best scoring defense in the country and first in the America East. UVM is also ranked 43rd in the country, second in America East in blocks per game, notching 4.5 blocks per game. Vermont commits 13.6 fouls per game, which is the 11th lowest in the country.
  • Ayo-Faleye ranks 25th in the country and second in America East in blocks per game, garnering 2 blocks a game.
  • America East released the All-Conference selections on Friday. Shamir Bogues and TJ Hurley landed on the first team. Ileri Ayo-Faleye and Nick Fiorillo were named to the third team. Shamir Bogues and Ileri Ayo-Faleye earned All-Defensive honors. Sean Blake landed on All-Rookie Team. TJ Hurley and Nick Fiorillo were All-Academic selections.

 
SCOUTING THE BLACK BEARS

  • Maine is coming off a 72-64 win against UMass Lowell this past Saturday.
  • The Black Bears are ranked 73rd in the nation and 3rd in the America East for field goal percentage averaging 46.8%.
  • Maine has been strong defensively; they are ranked 27th in steals per game (8.9).
  • Senior guard AJ Lopez leads the Black Bears offensively averaging 14.7 points per game. Lopez ranks 5th in the America East in field goal percentage (48%). Lopez landed on the America East All-Conference Second Team.
  • Graduate guard Kellen Tynes leads Maine defensively. Tynes averages 3.1 steals per game, which ranks 2nd in the country. Tynes earned America East Defensive Player of the Year honors last Friday.
  • The Catamounts will battle the Black Bears for the 157th time. UVM leads the all-time series 86-70.
  • Vermont has beaten Maine twice this year in the regular season. The Catamounts have averaged a five-point margin of victory.
