Trinidad and Tobago’s Under-19 rugby team ended their campaign at the Rugby Americas North (RAN) Men’s U-19 XVs Tournament without a single win, falling 36–7 to Bermuda in the 5th–6th place playoff yesterday in Querétaro, Mexico.

Bermuda, who also struggled in the group stage, secured their second win of the tournament — both coming at the expense of T&T.

T&T’s young squad endured a tough competition, suffering five straight defeats against the United States, the Cayman Islands, Jamaica, and twice to Bermuda.

On Day One, T&T opened with a heavy 59–0 loss to unbeaten tournament favourites USA, followed by a 19–10 defeat to the Cayman Islands. Day Two saw a narrow 10–7 loss to Bermuda and a close 20–14 defeat to Jamaica.

In the playoff match, Bermuda led 1–0 at half-time and extended their advantage in the second half with another try, building a 26–0 lead.

T&T finally got on the board through persistent pressure, with Kedell Wilson powering over for their first try. Ezekiel Wilson added the conversion with a clean one-handed kick, narrowing the score to 26–7.

However, hopes of a comeback were dashed as Bermuda added the final ten points to seal a comfortable victory and leave T&T at the bottom of the standings.

RESULTS:

Day 2:

Bermuda 10 T&T 7; Jamaica 20 T&T 14; USA 33 Mexico 6; USA 33 Cayman Islands 3; Jamaica 33 Bermuda 3; Mexico 17 Cayman Islands 0

Day 1:

USA 59 T&T 0; USA 31 Jamaica 0; Cayman Islands 19 T&T 10; Cayman Islands 22 Bermuda 0; Mexico 10 Bermuda 3; Jamaica 22 Mexico 6; Mexico 10 Bermuda 3; Jamaica 22 Mexico 6.
