The 2025 Vermont high school spring playoffs have begun. See below for scores, schedules and game details (statistical leaders, game notes) from baseball, softball, lacrosse, tennis and Ultimate.

WEDNESDAY’S H.S. PLAYOFF GAMES

D-I softball semifinals

No. 1 BFA-St. Albans 6, No. 5 Colchester 1

B: Megan Gonyeau (WP, CG 4H, 13K). Marah McGinn (solo HR). Jade Garceau (2-run 3B).

C: Athanasia Boyer (LP, 3.1IP, 4H, 3R, 3ER, 1K; 2-for-3 at the plate).

Note: A three-run fifth inning gave host BFA (17-0) a 6-1 lead on its way to sealing the program’s 20th title-game berth.

No. 3 Essex 7, No. 7 Missisquoi 5

E: Trinity Anaya (WP, CG, 6H, 5R, 2ER, 7K, 3BB; 2-for-3, at the plate). Abigail Desilets (2-for-2, HR, 4 RBIs). Calleigh Bruyns (2-for-3, 2 RBIs). Sarah Krauss (1-for-4, 3B).

M: Addison Gates (2-for-3, 2 RBIs). Brook Pilbin (2-for-4).

Note: Desilets’ grand slam in a six-run fourth inning gave Essex a 6-1 lead as the Hornets advanced to their 14th title game.

D-II softball semifinals

No. 1 Lyndon 3, No. 4 Rice 2

L: Jenna Royer (WP, CG, 4H, 2R, 1ER, 6K, BB, 2-for-2 at the plate, 2 RBIs). Ashleigh Simpson (2-for-3, 2B, 3B).

R: Alayna Havreluk (LP, 6IP, 4H, 3R, 3ER, 7K, 2BB). Ella Tatro (1 hit). Bella Messineo (1 hit). Lynsey Nagle (1 hit). Molly McGibney (1 hit).

Note: Lyndon scored all three of its runs in the bottom of the fourth helping the Vikings climb out of a 2-0 deficit. Royer hit a two-run single with Emerson Smith following with a sacrifice bunt.

No. 2 Mount Abraham 21, No. 3 Otter Valley 12

MA: Gretchen Toy (WP, CG, 14H, 12R, 6ER, 5K, 4-for-5 at the plate, HR, 6 RBIs). Eleanor Hurlburt (3-for-5, 2B, RBI). Genevieve Forand (3-for-4, 5 RBIs). Abby Parker (4-for-6, RBI). Leah Tierney (4-for-5, 2 RBIs).

Note: Four-time reigning D-III champion Oxbow scored in every inning it went to bat to run its winning streak to 65 games in a row.

Note: Lussier’ RBI single was the go-ahead hit in a three-run bottom of the fifth inning for the Bullets, who advanced to their 11th championship-game appearance.

D-IV softball semifinals

No. 1 West Rutland 14, No. 4 Blue Mountain 10

WR: Peyton Guay (WP, 13H, 3K, 2BB). Sophy Perry (3 hits, 2 3B). Kennah Wright Chapman (2 hits, HR). Emily Hopp (2 hits). Bella Coombs (3B).

D-I baseball semifinals

No. 3 St. Johnsbury 4, No. 2 South Burlington 1

SJ: Cage Thompson (WP, CG, 2H, 1R, 1ER, 4K, 1BB; 2B at the plate, RBI). Will Eaton (3-for-4, 2B, RBI). Rex Hauser (2B). Carter Bunnell (2-for-4).

SB: Lucas Van Mullen (2 hits, HR). Bennett Campbell (LP, 5IP, 5H, 2R, 0ER, 3K, 2BB).

Note: Thompson broke a 1-all tie with a fielder’s choice in the fifth inning and also had an RBI double in a two-run seventh as the Hilltoppers ousted defending champion South Burlington to book its first trip to the final since 2016.

No. 1 Mount Anthony 9, No. 5 Colchester 1

Note: Missisquoi (17-0) reached it first title game since 2012.

No. 6 Enosburg 4, No. 2 Lyndon 1

Note: Enosburg halted Lyndon’s undefeated season to reach the program’s 15th title game. Burns and Keelty (double) had RBI hits in a two-run sixth that made it a three-run game.

Note: Host CVU used a five-goal unanswered run spanning the first and second quarters to build a 5-2 halftime lead as the Redhawks clinched their third straight trip to the D-I title game.
