UVM soccer: NCAA championship parade on Burlington’s Church Street

Fans flocked Church Street to celebrate UVM men’s soccer’s historic national championship with a parade and rally.

A forward within the America East Conference is transferring to the Vermont basketball program.

New Hampshire Wildcat Trey Woodyard announced Friday on his Instagram page his decision to join the Catamounts. The 6-foot-6, 196-pound Woodyard has one year of eligibility left following a three-year stint with UNH, one of Vermont’s rivals in America East.

This past winter, Woodyard played in only six games before an injury shut down his season. In three years with the Wildcats, Woodyard totaled 46 starts in 63 games played, averaging 4.9 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. In 2023-24, Woodyard averaged 7.7 ppg and 3.9 rpg while shooting 37.7% on 3-point attempts.

The Ohio native started his college career at Valparaiso, making 27 appearances and averaging 7.4 minutes per game as a reserve for the Beacons in 2021-22.

Vermont previously picked up forwards Gus Yalden and Ben Michels via the transfer portal earlier this month. Coach John Becker and his Vermont staff still need to fill four more scholarship spots for the 2025-26 season.
