STORRS, CT – UConn quarterback Joe Fagnano (Williamsport, PA) has been named this week’s New England Football Association Gold Helmet Award presented by the Jack Grinold/Eastern Massachusetts Chapter of the National Football Foundation.

Fagnano threw for 362 yards and four touchdowns while also running for 25 yards and a score to lead the Huskies to a 38-23 win at New England rival Boston College on Saturday. Fagnano completed 23-of-31 passes, finding eight different receivers. He had touchdown throws of 50, 43, 14, and 38 yards on the day. The 362 yards marked his highest total as a UConn Husky. Fagnano led the Huskies to their first ever win at BC as the team picked-up their fourth-straight win. UConn also got their first road win at a power conference opponent since the 2012 season.

On the season, he has completed 154 of 226 passes with no interceptions. He has thrown for 1,918 yards and 15 touchdowns. He is the only quarterback in the county with over 200 pass attempts and at least 1500 yards without an interception on the season.

Fagnano and the Huskies are back on the road this weekend as they head to Houston to face the Rice Owls on ESPN+ at 3 pm EST.

For the eleventh straight year, the Jack Grinold/Eastern Massachusetts Chapter of the National Football Foundation is the presenting sponsor for both the weekly and end-of-year Gold Helmet Awards presented to student-athletes from FBS, FCS, Division II and Division III institutions throughout New England. The awards will be presented at the NEFW Captains and Awards Banquet on December 11, at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel & Conference Center.
