BRATTLEBORO — Starting Tuesday, the 2025 Vermont state playoffs began for the fall sports season, with a number of local teams participating in the Division 1 through Division 4 tournaments.

In the Division 1 boys soccer tournament, No. 12 Brattleboro was scheduled to play at No. 5 Rutland in the play down round on Tuesday. The winner of that game will move to the quarterfinals that are scheduled to be played on Friday or Saturday.

In the Division 4 girls soccer tournament, No. 9 Leland & Gray defeated No. 8 Danville 3-2 in overtime on the road in the play down round on Tuesday. Lily Litchfield scored the two goals for the Rebels (4-9-2) in regulation time and Sophia Hallock made a penalty kick in extra time to seal the win. The Rebels will travel to face undefeated West Rutland in the quarterfinals, which are scheduled to be played on Friday or Saturday.

Also playing in the Division 4 bracket, No. 13 Twin Valley was scheduled to play at No. 4 Poultney in the play down round on Tuesday. The winner of that game will advance to the quarterfinals that are set for Friday or Saturday.

In the Division 1 girls soccer tournament, No. 4 Brattleboro is scheduled to host No. 13 Burlington in the play down round on Wednesday at 4 p.m. The winner of that game will move on to the quarterfinals that are set for Saturday.

In the Division 3 girls soccer tournament, No. 7 Bellows Falls is scheduled to host No. 10 Woodstock in the play down round on Wednesday at 3 p.m. The winner of that game will move on to the quarterfinals that are set for Saturday.

In the Division 4 boys soccer tournament, No. 9 Leland & Gray is scheduled to play at No. 8 Sharon in the play down round on Wednesday at 4 p.m. The winner of that game will go on to the quarterfinals against No. 1 and undefeated Twin Valley on Saturday.

In the Division 2 field hockey tournament, No. 1 Bellows Falls is scheduled to host No. 8 Middlebury in the quarterfinals on Friday at 3 p.m. The winner of that game will advance to the semifinals which are scheduled for Tuesday, October 28.

Also playing in the Division 2 tournament, No. 7 Brattleboro is scheduled to play at No. 2 Otter Valley in the quarterfinals on Friday at 3 p.m. The winner of that game will advance to Tuesday’s semifinals.

The Brattleboro and Bellows Falls cross country teams are scheduled to compete in the Vermont state meet on Saturday at Thetford Academy. The race is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
