For the first time since 2021, Williams College has placed a football player on the Division II-III All-New England team.

Tackle Joseph Ngnombouowo, a senior from Boston, was named to the team which is selected by the New England Football Writers Association.

Ngnombouowo was the anchor of a fairly young line for Williams. Only Ngnombouowo and Cam Maguire were seniors on the line that started the season-ending game against Amherst. Two of the linemen were sophomores and one was a junior.

The 5-4 Ephs led NESCAC in rushing yards (1,703), yards per rush (5.2) and rushing yards per game (187.4). The 187.4 yards per game enabled Williams to finish 49th in the nation in that category.

Additionally, Williams ranked second in the conference with eight sacks allowed, one behind NESCAC leader Amherst. The eight sacks was good for 27th nationally.

Ngnombouowo is the first Eph to be named to the NEFW All-New England Division II-III team since quarterback Bobby Maimaron and offensive tackle John Freeman were selected back in 2021.

One member of the 0-12 University of Massachusetts football team was named to the Division I All-New England team. Defensive end Marques White, a senior, had 18 solo tackles and 32 assisted tackles for 50 total. He had 11 tackles for loss and five sacks, both categories leading the Minutemen. He was tied for 10th in the Mid-American Conference in tackles for loss and was 13th in the MAC in sacks.

The soccer seasons at Williams might have ended earlier than either coach Steffen Siebert or Sarah Raymond might have liked, but honors for players on both sides keep coming in.

Two Williams men’s players and four Williams women’s players have been named All-Region by the United Soccer Coaches.

One of the six was a first-team selection. Sophomore forward Elizabeth Stophel, a first-team All-NESCAC selection, is the lone Eph on the first team.

A pair of first-years, midfielder Lucy Carrel and forward Maya Lloyd were named to the coaches’ second team, along with senior defender Paige Nelson. Lloyd was also the NESCAC Rookie of the Year.

Williams junior forward Kathleen Smith is the NESCAC women’s basketball player of the week.

Smith averaged 16.0 points and 10.0 rebounds while shooting 67 percent (12-18) from the field in a 2-0 week for the Ephs. Smith finished with 17 points, including 8 in the final quarter to allow Williams to build on a 3-point lead, and added 12 rebounds in a 53-46 non-conference Little Three victory over Wesleyan.

Smith and the Ephs had a big game Wednesday night at fourth-ranked Smith.

Three other Ephs were named to NESCAC honor rolls. Hudson Hansen was named to the men’s basketball Honor Roll, while Connor Berg and Becca White were named to their hockey Honor Rolls.
