The President of the United States has made his impact on the sports world this year.
As 2025 is wrapping up, President Trump’s impact on the sports world is being looked at and evaluated. President Trump, 79, has long been a sports fan. The President of the United States, who took office in January, is now making his sports interests felt in the White House.

The President of the United States has done the following:
-
Warned the NFL he strongly disagrees with Bad Bunny at Super Bowl 60 in California
-
Warned the Washington Commanders that he could make their new stadium process difficult if they don’t name the stadium after him
-
Warned U.S. cities that he could take World Cup games away from them if they don’t get in line
President Trump’s NFL interests
President Trump, who has been trying to put his name on all sorts of things, wants the Commanders to name their new stadium after him.
He wants Trump Stadium.
“That would be a beautiful name, as it was President Trump who made the rebuilding of the new stadium possible,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told ESPN.

But it’s not up to Trump – or the team.
“The team doesn’t have the authority. They can’t name the stadium … on their own,” a source told ESPN. “The city would be involved in that decision, and the Park Service would be involved.”
President Trump’s World Cup threat
The President of the United States also warned World Cup cities.
President Trump warned that cities like Boston or Los Angeles, that have had political demonstrations in the streets, could get games taken away.

“We can take them away,” Trump said.
But, like his NFL stadium threat, this one probably can’t be done either.
“It’s FIFA’s tournament, FIFA’s jurisdiction, FIFA makes those decisions,” FIFA vice president Victor Montagliani said. “With all due respect to current world leaders, football is bigger than them and football will survive their regime and their government and their slogans. That’s the beauty of our game, that it is bigger than any individual and bigger than any country.”

Trump’s impact on the sports world is sure to be felt in 2026, too.
