The New England Patriots’ Roman Reigns Tribute Backfires After Super Bowl Beatdown

The New England Patriots’ Roman Reigns tribute backfired after their loss against the Seattle Seahawks at Super Bowl LX.

Ahead of the New England Patriots’ clash against the Seattle Seahawks at Super Bowl LX on Sunday, the team posted a clip of some of the players and coach Mike Vrabel making their pregame arrival wearing traditional Polynesian leis on their X/Twitter account. Vrabel had received his as a gift from defensive lineman Khyiris Tonga’s mother.

They posted it with the caption, “We the ones,” referring to WWE‘s The Bloodline faction. The team then followed up with a picture of Mike Vrabel wearing the lei, calling him the “OTC,” paying a subtle tribute to Roman Reigns.

However, after the Seahawks defeated the Patriots 29-13, with the former dominating most of the game, the Roman Reigns tribute has backfired. Fans called out the Patriots after the loss, essentially saying Reigns actually delivers in big game situations.

“Yall are not a part of the bloodline after that performance,” one fan wrote.

“Don’t ever dedicate sum to the OTC and then lose,” another fan said.

“The otc doesn’t lose the superbowl unlike the Patriots,” another fan replied.

Roman Reigns won the 2026 WWE Men’s Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia and has decided to face CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 42.

The Super Bowl also had its share of controversy over Bad Bunny’s involvement in the halftime show. Former WWE United States Champion Logan Paul also disagreed with his brother Jake Paul’s critical take.
