It’s another busy weekend in Catamount Country for the University of Vermont sports teams. Despite the cold, the Catamounts women’s lacrosse team kicks off its 2026 season down at Charlotte on Feb. 7. The women’s hockey team is hosting its annual Pack the Gut game on Saturday, Feb. 7, while both basketball teams look to rebound after suffering disappointing losses to Maine on Feb. 5.

Women’s hockey

Vermont 3, Boston University 0

V: Lauren O’Hara 1G, 1A. Stella Retrum 1G, 2A. Kaylee Lewis 1G, 1A. Lily Prendergast 18 saves.

B: Mari Pietersen 20 saves.

Note: O’Hara set a new program record for the fastest goal scoring just 10 seconds into the game. Retrum, Lewis and O’Hara are the top three scorers for the Catamounts and continue to pad their stats. Vermont earned its first ever series sweep of Boston University.

Note: (Vermont 20-6, 9-2) reached 20 wins for the fifth straight season.

Men’s basketball

Note: Johnson went 7-for-10 from 3-point range as Vermont (15-10, 7-3) halted a two-game losing skid. The Catamounts led 42-29 at the break and made 15 3-pointers overall.
