The Philadelphia Eagles have reportedly adjusted their asking price for a blockbuster trade involving the franchise’s star wide receiver, A.J. Brown.

Shortly after the NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that the Eagles are seeking a first and second-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, NFL insider Josina Anderson stated that Philadelphia may be willing to make a slight adjustment to the trade demand.

The New England Patriots, who have been attached to Brown to begin the offseason, should feel somewhat (but not overly) encouraged by the Eagles’ new asking price for Brown.

“At some point in discussions, a league source conveyed to me Monday the belief that the Eagles may be okay with a 2027 first-round pick & a 2026 second-round pick for WR A.J. Brown,” Anderson wrote on X/Twitter Monday.

“When I asked sources why Philly may be okay with deferring the 1st-round ask to next year, one source told me, (The Eagles) already have four top 100 picks this year. Easier for the other team to give their first-round pick next year than this year. Another source said some may believe ‘next year’s draft class is stronger.”

Simply put, it appears the Eagles won’t require a trade suitor like the Patriots to include a 2026 first-round pick in a package for Brown. However, contrary to Fox Sports Radio and All City Sports’ Anthony Gargano’s Mar. 6 report that the Patriots’ offer for Brown (a first and three-round pick) was rejected by Philadelphia, Anderson seems to believe New England is hesitant to give up a first-round pick in a Brown-centered deal.

“So far, the Patriots have had a hard time giving up a first, per source,” Anderson said. “Not clear if that sentiment pertains to both 2026 and 2027, just yet. That’s the latest I’ve heard from sources on trade talk talking points as of yesterday.”

If Anderson’s report holds merit, the Patriots will face significant obstacles in their pursuit of Brown. Being unwilling to surrender a first-round pick could remove New England from the Brown trade sweepstakes.

If New England changes its stance, though, it could be in good shape to pull off a massive deal for the 28-year-old Super Bowl champion.
