At the end of last season, the Dodgers became the first back-to-back World Series champs since the Yankees won three in a row from 1998 to 2000. In addition, L.A. won its third championship in the past six years.
The path to the title was smooth for the Dodgers … until it wasn’t.
L.A. swept Cincinnati in the Wild Card, beat Philadelphia in four games in the Divisional Round, and swept Milwaukee in the National League Championship Series. However, in the World Series, the Dodgers fell down 3-2 to the Blue Jays, and needed to win two straight games in Toronto to capture the championship.
Now, heading into this season, the Boys in Blue are retooled, signing top free agent, outfielder Kyle Tucker, and top closer Edwin Diaz.
Second on the board are the Yankees, who fell to the Dodgers in the 2024 World Series. Last season, New York defeated Boston in the Wild Card, before falling to Toronto in four games in the Divisional Round.
