The Community College of Vermont is seeing an increase in enrollment this spring.

Nearly 5,000 students are enrolled for the current semester, reflecting a 5% uptick compared with this time last year, according to a community announcement.

The college serves almost 10,000 students annually, making it the second-largest college in Vermont.

CCV has offered online classes since 1996, according to the announcement, and the demand for online courses has grown, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Between fall 2019 and fall 2025, the college experienced a 69% increase in students taking online courses and a 59% decrease in those attending in-person classes.

The college operates locations across Vermont, and its campus footprint continues to change. In Middlebury, CCV has partnered with the Vermont Community Foundation to share space, while in St. Johnsbury the college moved into the Fairbanks Museum in 2022.

This spring, CCV will move out of its physical locations in Springfield and Morrisville. The college also shifted from location-based advising to program-based advising.

Nearly two-thirds of CCV students now access advising and financial aid services remotely. This shift reflects the changing ways students interact with the college.
