WESTMINSTER — Pat Connors and Cam Perry of Bellows Falls were each named to the Vermont roster for the 73rd Annual Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl that is set to take place this summer in Castleton.
Connors, a running back, and Perry, a lineman, were players on the Bellows Falls football team that won the Division 3 state championship on Nov. 15 with a 54-20 win over Woodstock, which avenged their lone defeat of the season. The win also gave the Terriers their 13th state title, breaking the record for the most in Vermont high school football history.
The two Terriers represented southern Vermont in the 24th annual North/South All-Star Football Classic on Nov. 23 at North University, which the North won 55-20. Connors was also selected as the 2025 MaxPreps Vermont High School Football Player of the Year, which made him the first southern Vermont player to win the award since quarterback Jack McCoy of Burr & Burton in 2023.
According to an article in the Times Argus, the Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl “pits the best recently-graduated high school football players from New Hampshire and Vermont against each other.” Connors and Perry will look to help Vermont capture its fourth straight win in the event, which they trail New Hampshire in the all-time series, 50-19-2.
This year’s Shrine Bowl will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1 at Vermont State University Castleton’s Dave Wolk Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
