The 2026 World Cup is 37 days away, but Fox Sports is looking to make a last-minute hire.

In partnership with Indeed, the network announced the position of “Chief World Cup watcher,” a role where a qualified fan will be tasked with watching all 104 World Cup matches on their Fox One platform. The salary: $50,000.

From the sound of it, this person will basically be asked with sitting in a World Cup-themed fish bowl in Times Square and posting about it on social media. The exact duties:

  • Watching every minute of FOX Sports’ coverage of all 104 matches in 4K on FOX One – the Official Streaming Platform of FIFA World Cup 2026™.

  • Making their fandom shine from a custom-built viewing space amidst thousands of daily visitors, tourists and commuters in the heart of Times Square for a truly unique watch party.

  • Creating and sharing social content authentic to them throughout the tournament showing they’re the authority in watching and cheering for every minute of World Cup action.

If that appeals to you, or you just really want $50,000 for a month and a half of work, the application process is a tad different than your usual job.

Instead of sending in an application, Indeed wants you to make or update your profile to match the rule, set your preferences to “Employers can find you” and upload a video on social with the hashtag #ChiefWorldCupWatcher. The Fox Sports recruiting team will then come to you.

Once hired, the new employee will officially begin their role on June 6 with a live reveal during Fox’s broadcast of a Boston Red Sox-New York Yankees game. The role will conclude on July 26, a week after the World Cup final. That’s 50 total days, conveniently working out to $1,000 per day.

And if you want to watch the World Cup without being paid for it, the tournament kicks off on June 11 with a match between co-host Mexico and South Africa.
