It’s already that time of year: college move-out season in Vermont.
You may notice college towns growing busier as graduation ceremonies get underway and students move out of their dorm rooms for summer break.
The bulk of the moving happens in May, when most local student residence halls close.

2026 move-out dates for Vermont colleges
This list includes several Vermont colleges and their publicly listed residence hall move-out dates. Many colleges have exceptions for different circumstances, but these are the main Spring 2026 residence hall closures:

Bennington College: Housing closes on Friday, May 29, at noon; students participating in commencement may stay until Saturday, May 30, at 4 p.m.

Middlebury College: Residence halls close for general student body on Wednesday, May 20, at noon; residence halls close for graduates on Sunday, May 24, at 6 p.m.

Norwich University: Spring semester ends Thursday, April 30, but dorm move-out dates were not publicly listed

Saint Michael’s College: Move out within 24 hours after last final exam, or by 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6; graduating seniors may stay until Sunday, May 10, at 6 p.m.
