Welcome to the sixth installment of the 2026 spring season for the Delta Dental Vermont Varsity Insider Athletes of the Week voting by high school sports fans.

This week, and every week during the sports seasons, members of the public may vote for a top girls athlete and a top boys athlete. And since last year, we added to the list of weekly nominees: There are now two stories, one for girls and one for boys, with more athletes on each ballot.

How do I cast my vote?

All voting is through the ballots at burlingtonfreepress.com. We will not accept votes through email or through social media.

Voting began Tuesday, May 26, and continues through 9 p.m. Thursday, May 28.

How do we learn who wins?

The winners will be announced in a story published at burlingtonfreepress.com on Friday, May 29.

May I nominate a deserving athlete for a future ballot?

Yes. Please nominate a Vermont high school athlete by sending an email to sports@burlingtonfreepress.com (Subject Line: Athletes of the Week nomination). Additionally, please include the athlete’s school, sport and any relevant details from that week’s games in the email.

Boys Athlete of the Week nominees

Logan Baker, Mount Anthony track and field: At the SVL A championships in Manchester on May 22, the junior won long jump (21 feet, 2 inches) and triple jump (43-9.25) while taking second in javelin (138-9) and the 200 (23.16 seconds).

Luke Burns, Enosburg baseball: Burns combined to throw a six-inning no-hitter with a teammate and also went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and three RBIs in a 11-1 victory over BFA-Fairfax. He also went 2-for-4 in a loss to Mount Abraham and then picked up the win in three scoreless innings of relief to go with three hits and a pair of RBIs at the plate in the Hornets’ 17-2 triumph over Milton.

Carlo Concessi, U-32 baseball: During a 4-0 week for the Raiders, Concessi totaled six hits and seven RBIs while earning half of his team’s wins on the mound. Pitching-wise, Concessi threw two scoreless innings in a five-inning triumph over Hazen and then went five-plus innings, allowing six hits and one earned run with 5Ks in a 5-3 victory over Harwood.

Ryan Juzek, Stowe tennis: In four matches last week, Juzek seized a trio of victories at No. 1 singles against Rice, Colchester and Champlain Valley.

Charlie Lamonia, Harwood lacrosse: Lamonia racked up three goals and five assists in a 15-3 win over Montpelier and supplied a hat trick in the Highlanders’ 17-4 victory over Green Mountain Valley during a 3-0 week for the defending Division II champions.

Vinny Wagoner, Colchester baseball: Wagoner homered in a two-hit game with three RBIs in an 8-5 decision over South Burlington, fired a two-hit, 16K shutout in a 10-0 victory over Burlington, doubled and tripled in a 13-0 win over Rice, and had another double as the Lakers completed a 4-0 week with an 11-0 win over Rutland.
