MANCHESTER — The Vermont Wild scored its first win of the season against Inter Connecticut FC on Saturday, June 27. The energy was high with over 300 fans showing up at Applejack Stadium to support the Wild and celebrate Pride Month. The event kicked off with live music from Brattleboro-based reggae band NL Dennis & the Thunderballs as well as great food and drink from local favorites Hound Dogs, Mountain Fresh Acai, and The Club Car with Vermont Distillers. Holley MacLellan, a sophomore at Stonehill College from Milton, Vermont, scored the winning goal for the Wild following a corner kick taken by Brazilian player Eduarda Queiroz. Sydney Malaga, a recent Cornell University graduate, was on fire and earned Christo’s Player of the Match.

The Wild held a raffle to support a sports bra drive in partnership with The Sports Bra Project, a nonprofit focused on keeping girls in sports. Lucky winners received prizes generously donated by local Women Business Match Partners: Pure Complexion, Renu Lounge, Lark Design, Gathered & Made, Willoughby’s Doughnuts, Mother Myrick’s, and The Birch & Berry Inn.

The club holds its final game at home on Friday, July 3, where it will compete with the Vermont Clover FC from up north. The double header will open at 2:30 p.m. with 4 p.m. kick-off against the women’s side and 6 p.m. kick-off by local Vermont Fusion Men’s team against the Clover men’s side. The Club Car will be on hand to serve a Village Garage signature vodka cocktail “Wild Firecracker Lemonade.” Local food favorites Earth Sky Time Farm, Mountain Fresh Acai and On the Go Nutrition will be serving up tasty fare and energy drinks. There will be a World Cup viewing party at the park next to Applejack Stadium. Vermont Soccer Association is the proud match sponsor of the games.

The Wild has built their inaugural season around a network of local partners in southern Vermont, including presenting partner Mindshift Capital, Vermont Orthopaedic Clinic, Stratton Mountain Resort and 102.7 WEQX. Individual tickets are available at vermontwildfc.com/tickets.
