The New England Patriots announced on Saturday that they have acquired former Arizona Cardinals running back Corey Kiner in a trade. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Patriots sent a 2028 seventh-round draft pick to the Cardinals in exchange for Kiner.
The corresponding move, per the Patriots, was the team releasing running back Hassan Haskins.
Kiner will have a chance to step in as the No. 3 option at running back behind Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson. The former undrafted free agent out of Cincinnati had 39 carries for 180 rushing yards and two touchdowns, averaging 4.6 yards per carry during the preseason.
He has spent time with the San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings’ practice squad.
The Patriots came into training camp with a talented offensive backfield, including Lan Larison, Jam Miller and Terrell Jennings. The additions of Haskins and JaMycal Hasty spiced things up a bit.
Kiner gives the Patriots another slasher on the ground to fill the depth void in New England’s offensive backfield for the 2026 season.
