Stan Krawczyk, whose 42-point game stood as a school record for decades, has joined Vermont State University-Randolph’s Athletics Hall of Fame.

RANDOLPH – Stan Krawczyk of Bennington has been induced into the Athletics Hall of Fame at Vermont State University- Randolph (formerly Vermont Technical College).

Krawczyk played two years of basketball for the Green Knights while earning an associate’s degree in agriculture in the late 1960s. He became one of the school’s all-time leading scorers and is best known for setting the school record for the most points scored in a single game (42) during the 1967-68 season. He scored 19 field goals and four free-throws.

Upon breaking the record, the game was stopped and Krawczyk was given the game ball. His record held until 1991.

His single-game feat was achieved before the existence of a 3-point line. Vermont Tech later became a four-year university and Krawczyk remains one of the top 10 all-time leading scorers for the school despite playing for just two years.

Krawczyk was joined at the ceremony by his wife Georgette and a dozen friends and relatives.
