MILTON — The Milton High School boys varsity soccer team fell 6-1 to Rice Memorial on Monday, Oct. 5, during the Yellow Jackets’ Homecoming and Senior Recognition game.
The match opened competitively, with the two teams appearing evenly matched in the early minutes. Rice struck first, but Milton quickly answered when forward Chase Renaud (17) found the net off an assist from midfielder Joshua Rhoades (16), tying the game at 1-1.
Rice responded by taking control offensively, scoring four more times before halftime to take a 5-1 lead into the break. The Green Knights added their sixth goal early in the second half.
Milton’s defense settled in after that, holding Rice scoreless for the remainder of the match. The Yellow Jackets continued to battle, but were unable to generate the offensive momentum needed to close the deficit.
The evening also served as Senior Recognition Night for Milton, honoring seniors Dante Matott (5), Brandon Metcalf (14), Alexander Harlow (20), Brock Bushey (22) and Edmond Roucoulet (24) as they near the end of their final season with the Yellow Jackets. Junior exchange student Eduardo Souza de Brito (21) was also recognized for his contributions this year.
