New England Revolution defender Andrew Farrell has announced his retirement from professional soccer following the 2026 season, concluding a 14-year career spent entirely with the club.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft out of the University of Louisville, Farrell holds New England’s all-time records for games played (389), games started (352) and minutes played (33k+).
“This club has meant everything to me,” an emotional Farrell said in his retirement announcement. “For as long as I’ve known, it’s what I’ve always wanted to do, and so that ending is always tough. But I loved every minute of it, and just grateful for the opportunity to be part of the club and this community.”
Farrell helped New England reach MLS Cup in 2014 and win the Supporters’ Shield in 2021, when the Revolution set a then-league record with 73 points. He has also earned five club Defender of the Year awards and four Humanitarian of the Year honors.
“I just want to thank the fans for supporting me in the good times and the bad times and supporting this club,” Farrell said. “You guys are the heartbeat of this. That’s why we play.
“Still a lot to accomplish this season,” he added. “This year’s coaching staff has been amazing, even in this transition, this next chapter of my life. It’s been an honor to be working alongside and be a part of this team.”
