Maddie Smith continues to rule New England.

The Westford Academy senior added to her growing trophy collection on Monday, capturing the New England Interscholastic Girls Golf Championship at Mohegan Sun Golf Club in Baltic, Connecticut.

Smith shot 4-under 67 to claim the title by a whopping six shots. Adriana Eaton (Moses Brown, R.I.) and Madelyn Savary (Bishop Brady, N.H.) tied for second place with rounds of 2-over 73.

Longmeadow’s Cecily Henshon capped her standout high school career with a solo fourth place finish after shoot 3-over 74. It was the second straight fourth-place finish in this event for Henshon, who also shot 74 in last year’s event.

Smith, who tied for sixth place at last year’s New England championship, has excelled on the big stage. Earlier this summer, she won the New England Amateur Golf Championship at Haverhill Country Club, and also took home the Massachusetts Girls’ Junior Amateur. The University of Memphis-bound star will have a chance to defend her MIAA North/Central/West sectional title next spring.

Hingham’s Callie Crean tied for fifth place with a round of 75, while Westfield’s Lauren Connor took seventh overall after shooting 76.

Bishop Feehan’s Hanley Correia and Lincoln-Sudbury’s Champa Visetsin tied for eighth place after posting identical rounds of 77.
