MANCHESTER — The Vermont Wild closed out its inaugural season with a 4-1 win against the Vermont Clover FC from up north on Friday, July 3. Goals were scored by team captain Sydney Malaga #19, midfielder Rihanna Kern #21 and forwards Eduarda Queiroz #9 and Pia-Laura Wisnewski #8. Alex Loner #14 was named as the Christo’s Player of the Match due to “locking down the midfield, making key interceptions, and helping unlock the Wild going forward,” according to Coach O’Connor.

Over 300 fans packed Applejack Stadium to watch the game during the July 4th holiday weekend kick-off. Fans enjoyed tunes spun by DJ and recent Burr & Burton Academy graduate Ryder Scott while munching on local bites from Earth Sky Time Farm and Mountain Fresh Acai. On the Go Nutrition kept fans hydrated and the Club Car and Village Garage teamed up to serve a signature cocktail aptly named “Wild Firecracker Lemonade.”

It was a great night all around for southern Vermont soccer, with a 3-2 win scored by the Vermont Fusion Legends All-Stars men’s team against the Clover men’s side. Vermont Soccer Association was the Match Sponsor of the games. The summer of soccer hit southern Vermont and fans showed up for the Wild all season.
